Awakening to the "Circle of Life"

The circle of life is a poetic expression for the interconnectedness of all living beings and to the elements (water, air and minerals, etc.) also necessary for life. It encompasses a sense of harmony and balance which maintains and regulates life sustaining conditions, viewing death as a necessary and integral part of the cycle. The circle of life also considers the spiritual dimensions of being and the immanence of God/Goddess or the Great Spirit. This year’s conference will begin to look at our multi-dimensional planet Earth and how we may exercise a greater gentleness with our home. We will consider the impact of nuclear energy, radiation, nuclear weapons, fracking and some of the effects of war both upon our environment  and the human spirit.

No, this won’t be the Lion King. The problems we are experiencing need immediate attention and solutions implemented as soon as humanly possible. Fukushima is pouring vast quantities of radioactivity into our oceans and here in NY, our clean and potable fresh water is now being threaten by a process commonly called “fracking”, where dangerous chemicals are pumped into the aquifer to release natural gas.

Along with these immediate environmental concerns, thousands of young men and women are returning from war and are experiencing the extreme psychological consequences of this deadly action. Please join us in serious inquiry about the extraordinary problems we are facing now but also in a day of community, sharing food and spiritual sustenance, laughter and hope as we look for and find helpful and life affirming solutions.

Please join us on August 19 and 20, 2011 in Fonda, NY.
